Lunch – Gym with Magazines or Guns with Magazines

Lots of people head to the gym on lunch. They pump some iron or hop on the treadmill and read some magazines.

Other people head to the shooting range and load up a gun with a different kind of magazine. Recently, I was the latter.

In an attempt to improve my intellectual well-roundedness, I bought an enabler’s  deal for a quick lesson and some rounds at a shooting range.

To be honest, I HAVE shot weapons before (thanks, Arnie!) but it’s not something I do often or am especially familiar with.

And as an added bonus, I was having a seriously sucky day at the office. Putting a weapon in my hands just seemed like a good idea.

So I rolled up to Westside Rifle and Pistol Range and waited for class to start. It was basically me and 3 dudes in the class but the ladies were solidly representing in the actual shooting range.  Our heavily inked instructor (2 sweet full sleeves) walked us through how load and remove the magazines from the rifle.

Then we went out for quick instruction on how to load up the magazines. We got 50 rounds each with each magazine holding 5 rounds.  Sadly you don’t get Rambo-style ammunitions here. Nevertheless, it was still pretty sweet.

So then it was into the range to start doing some (paper) damage. The targets were set up fairly close at first but once you were comfortable you could move them further back. I was feeling pretty confident after the first few magazines to which I’ll credit my love of  Big Buck Hunter Pro. So I moved the target back. I gotta say I am not a bad shot.

After my lovely lunch on the range, I headed back to the office  feeling refreshed with my new cubicle décor in hand.  Though I’m fairly certain my coworkers now fear I may go postal. No need to worry, friends. I’m just practicing for the next championship.
